The last 3 months have flown by! So quickly in fact that I haven't really had time for updates (obviously). So, without further ado, here is Kellan's 8-11 month update!
I bought a set of $4 cups that may have been one of the best purchases I've made to date. He LOVED those cups. Unfortunately, they have been chewed on by dogs or lost in the last month or so. They will be replaced though shortly.
We spent lots of time outside enjoying the beautiful summer and early fall weather.
This particular trip to the beach non of us were prepared to get wet. However, the water was much warmer than it had been previously and after getting his little feet wet, Kellan didn't want to leave! It was like a big bathtub.
He was soooo sad to leave. haha. Funny boy has an opinion now that has only become stronger as the months go on. It's great though because he is able to communicate much more clearly despite the lack of words at this point.
As mentioned in my last post, my mom was able to come and spend a week with us! We always love when she come to hang out and were sad to see her go, but made the most of all her time here!
Please note the soaking wet shorts. He really wanted it to be a big bathtub.
Baby boy likes to cruise in style.
Before my mom left, we took her and Kellan to New York for both of their first times! We did lots of things - Times Square, Statue of Liberty, Grand Central Station, Staton Island Ferry, and Central Park among other things.
Food wise, Kellan has almost completely graduated to finger food and our food. He is great at feeding himself and continues to be a really good eater. He will still eat pretty much anything, but with an opinion comes favorites. If he likes one thing better than another he will eat all of it first and often throw the rest to the dogs. Not my favorite thing, haha.
Here was his first shot at Spaghetti. He LOVED it.
Lucky for us, BYU played UCONN this year in Connecticut! We bought tickets last minute which was definitely a good decision.
One of my favorite things about living in New England is the ability to visit a farm/orchard and pick our own strawberries, blueberries, apples, peaches, and raspberries. We made sure to do all of these except blueberries.
Kellan has become far more mobile the last few months. Right about 9 months he fully converted to hands and knees crawling. He also started pulling up to standing around the same time. Now, he cruises all over crawling, can stand on his own for a few seconds (up to 10 even), walks along everything and will probably be walking within a month or so. This means he has been able to get into a lot more mischief. One of his favorite things to play with are pots, pans, and tupperware. He even climbs right into the cupboard with the pots and pans.
Diaper changing is quite the adventure as well. He rolls over almost immediately everytime he is laid down. Sometimes I even let him go as far as standing up. He has taking a liking to the owls above his changing table and pounds on them almost daily.
In true New Englander style, we visited the the Big E for the first time! Kellan made sure that he got to partake of alllll of the food that we did. Pictured here is a turkey leg.
He also got his first round of school pictures! Daycare had picture day and we got this picture as well as a class picture. So cute and funny.
Pictured below was a particularly fun day of raspberry picking.
He's learned to stand up in his crib, but thankfully only does that at daycare so far. I walked into this scene picking him up one day. They had both just woken up from a nap and were laughing and talking to each other. It was a whole new level of adorable.
The dishwasher is also one of his new favorites. He previously just played on the outside while I was doing dishes, but very recently graduated to climbing ON the dishwasher. He was so quiet while doing it I literally just turned around and he was there.
Just this last weekend we went and got pumpkins. Kellan rode around in the wagon and played amongst the pumpkins to his hearts content.
All in all, it's been a fast and furious few months. This age really is just so much fun! He so talkative and moving all over and just so. much. fun. I can't wait to see what the next phase brings!
