6 Months Old!

Okay - major blog slacker in the house. Life has been so busy, wonderful, crazy, awesome, stressful, amazing...and any other appropriate adjectives you can come up with. Having a baby has completely changed our lives and we are loving the ride! Every single day gets more and more fun! Here's a quick rundown of the whirlwind first 6 months of his life and hopefully I'll be a little more consistent from here on out.

Looking at this picture now, it's crazy to me how tiny he was! He spent lots of time resting on mine and Hunter's legs just like this - until he grew too tall to do so.

Thank goodness my sink was big enough to hold him in there for a long time. This is tiny one week old Kellan.

These next couple were taken on his first Christmas. Little Cora is just 3 days younger than Mr. Kellan. This picture is deceiving - Kellan is MUCH bigger than Cora - particularly at this age.

Both Grandma's got to visit over Christmas.

His first big smiles started to really show up at about a month and a half old.

Buuuut, he wasn't always smiley, particularly in the evenings. Little man was not a fan for the first few months. 3 months was the magic number though - everything got much better right around then. Not that things were ever bad, but every day still just keeps getting more and more fun!

His official 2 month stats:
15 lbs 2 oz
24 inches
All high 90th percentiles - including head size.

Dressing babies is So. Much. Fun. I can't get enough of it.

And here we are at 11 weeks. Little man put on the weight real fast real quick.

Remember this one week picture? Quite the comparison, huh?

Kellan was always pretty good at tummy time. From the beginning he has very good head control and was so strong - and continues to be.

More pictures with the BFF Cora. This is a little better comparison of their size difference, haha.

Hunter's white coat ceremony came right before Kellan hit the 4 month mark. It was our first big, important thing to take Kellan to. He spent the entire time working on and eventually having a blowout - making his once a week poop happen during the most important hour of the week. haha. No matter, I brought a nice change of clothes and I was still able to see everything.

We slowly got more and more brave in taking Kellan out. This was his first experience bowling. Coincidentally, it was both mine and Hunter's first experience duck pin bowling. I didn't even know that was a thing.

The fog over Connecticut finally started to lift around mid April and we were so happy to finally get to spend significant amounts of time outside not all bundled up. Yes, he's still wearing a jacket but we celebrated the 50s when we first started to get them. This particular day happened in March - well before we could remember what it felt like to have temperatures over 30 degrees.

First St. Patrick's Day!

Bathtime is one of his favorite times.

His official 4 month stats:
18 lbs 12 oz - 96th percentile
27 inches long - 99th percentile
Head size - 94th percentile

Right after the 4 month mark we trekked out to Utah. He was a champ on the plane and handled all the car rides really well - which was awesome because he had HATED the car up to this point. Luckily, that has resolved significantly.

He loved meeting Uncle Kenny and took an immediate liking to him. My theory is that Kenny treated him very similarly to how Hunter treats him so he felt very comfortable.

He's been working on sitting up for a long time now and still hasn't quite mastered the art - although he's close now. We always joke that if he doesn't learn to sit up it'll be because he doesn't want to bend anything and would rather stand.

We were able to go to Utah compliments of our good friend Julie. We were there celebrating the impending birth of her sweet little girl. We were able to visit a lot of friends and family. I will never be able to thank her enough for her generosity.

Right after we got home little man discovered his toes and there's been no going back since then. He grabs them regularly and quite enjoys sucking on them.

About 4 and a 1/2 months old he became obsessed with EVERYTHING that we were eating and drinking. He wanted it all!

It was at this point that we decided it was time to start real foods. Here he is trying rice cereal for the very first time. Obviously he was super thrilled about it.

Although the first day was a failure, the second day went much better and the third time really was the charm. There's been no turning back since then. I got a baby food maker for my birthday - which I was STOKED about. I really enjoy making his food. He likes almost everything he has tried - the one exception being pears. He hated them and literally was making himself gag and throw them up. So far he can eat squash, peas, carrots, bananas, green beans, blueberries, asparagus, and corn as well as rice and oatmeal. His favorites seem to be bananas and asparagus. At this point, he eats a bowl of oatmeal with fruit in the morning and has a nice bowl of veggies in the evening. He is a champ at eating and has even started trying to chew a little. He opens his mouth wide every time we sit him down to eat.

Rolling back to belly happened about the same time real foods did and that certainly rocked our worlds. Kellan was sleeping so well until then. Once he learned to roll when he woke up at night instead of just going back to sleep he would roll over then panic and scream - which makes no sense because he learned to roll belly to back right at 3 months. This happened multiple times a night. Luckily after a few weeks he seemed to get a handle on things and has come to terms with his new trick. Now I understand why babies sleep in cribs and everyday I come into him in a different position.

First Easter! Thanks Cora for sharing your bunny ears!

Lucky guy got to meet his great grandma! I'm so glad she was able to come out with my parents and spend a weekend with us. It was so much fun for everyone!

4 generations with the ladies...

...and 4 generations of the Heidenreich line.

His absolute favorite toy at this point is this bouncer. He'll play it in forever! I'm pretty sure this is how I've been able to cook dinner for the last couple months. He'll squeal and play and spin all around. Thank you Baby Einstein.

Still working on his sitting up skills.

He will roll aaaallllll over. This boy is always moving. If he's not rolling he's kicking and grabbing and reaching.

Here he is for the first time in the swings! He had so much fun and kick, kick, kicked the whole time.

And the grass for the first time....

Thank goodness for spring! That never ending winter was really starting to get on my nerves. And everyone else's I think.

He loves to chew on his spoon too. He'll already try to take it from me and feed himself. He gags himself with it at least once a day. haha.

Blueberry mess, but it was oh so good!

Two days before his 1/2 birthday Kellan cut his first two teeth! They are the bottom two and we are so proud of them. He worked hard for them! He was extra fussy, suuuuuper congested, and didn't really want to eat for a couple days. It was to the point that I was starting to think he had an ear infection but then he woke up with teeth and suddenly started feeling better. They are still tiny at this point so it's hard to see them, but we took some 6 month pictures that I am so excited to get back and you can see some little stubs in them.

Happy 6 months little man! We are so happy to have you to light up our lives!
